Christian Selfcare

Love your neighbor as yourself” (Mark 12:31) starts with stewarding *your* life well. Christian self-care isn’t selfish—it’s wisdom. Rest, nourishing foods, movement, and soul-filling practices renew us to serve boldly. Let’s refuel God’s way: body, mind, and spirit aligned for His purpose. Why Christian Self-Care Is Important.

Christian self-care is deeply important – not because it is trendy, but because it aligns for how His people should live, serve & flourish

  1. It Honors God’s Design for His Children.

God created humans with bodies, souls and spirits. Caring for yourself isn’t selfish – it’s stewardship

2. It Sustains You for Kingdom Work

Burnout, anxiety, and exhaustion weaken your ability to love, serve, and follow God’s calling.

Jesus rested. He withdrew. He ate. He slept. If He needed it, we do too.

3. It Helps You for Kingdom Work

You cannot pour from an empty vessel.

4. It Reduces the Enemies Access Points

Fatigue, stress, and emotional depletion make Christians more vulnerable to temptation, fear, confusion, and spiritual attack.

How Christians Should Practice Self-Care (Biblically & Wisely)

1. Start with God, not self

Christian self-care is not ‘self-salvation’ or self-obsession.

It begins with:

  • Surrendering yourself to God
  • Dependence on God
  • Actively seeking God’s presence

Let Him define what you need.

2. Practice Sabbath

One day a week to rest, worship and rest. Not legalistic – life-giving.

3. Listen to your limits

Limits are not weaknesses; they are God-given.

If you are exhausted, stressed, or overwhelmed:

  • Rest in obedience.
  • Pausing is Wisdom.
  • Saying no is stewardship.

4. Build rhythms, not occasional escapes.

Self-care should be regular, not once-a-year burnout recovery.

Examples:

  • Morning Quiet Time
  • Weekly Rest
  • Daily Gratitude
  • Scheduled Downtime
